Let’s get together at the Yarducopia Midtown Garden Depot and celebrate the gifts of our gardens and efforts!

Harvest Picnic Tour flyerBuild and expand your own Alaskan fresh-from-the-garden recipe trove! This is a garden tour sharing garden and recycling wisdom and a potluck sharing our garden dishes and the recipe.

The Midtown Garden Depot, once an empty lot at Cheechako and Benson, is repurposed as an expanding (lusher and lusher!) community garden and robust resource (leaf, manure & woodchip stock piles, plastic pots, garden tools, etc.) and compost-generating recycling center. It is managed by Yarducopia’s coordinators Nick Riordan and Theresa Brown and the local gardeners. They welcome you to see all that is going on and all the Depot has to offer.  Come meet the diverse group of gardeners and Nick, passionate recycling prince of Anchorage, and Theresa, passionate community garden force. The squash madges’ winter squash garden is exploding there this summer. Come enjoy some magic!

Please bring a dish made from your garden (at least 2 garden ingredients) and the recipe on a 3×5. How many ways can we use our produce? Prepare to have your senses delighted! And have fun visiting!

The address is 2930 Cheechako St. at the corner of Benson Blvd and Cheechako.

If you don’t have time to prepare a dish to share don’t stay home; please bring a freshly picked flower bouquet, wildflowers, weeds, vegetable leaves. Have fun and let your creativity flow!

Also, please bring your own plate, cup, utensils, napkin, and chair or picnic blanket.
