Our mission is to make gardening resources and expertise accessible to everyone in the Municipality of Anchorage regardless of income or home ownership status. We connect individuals and their skills into a network for the purpose of building social capital through gardening.
To achieve this mission, a team of coaches volunteer their time to mentor anyone who wants to garden. Coaches support their neighbors with:
- garden design
- troubleshooting
- access to resources (seeds, nursery pots, compost, etc)
- connections to a community working to improve food security in Anchorage
Anchor Gardens is an initiative of NeighborWorks Alaska, whose mission is to be dedicated to improving lives by providing opportunities for people to live in affordable homes and strong neighborhoods. NeighborWorks Alaska is our fiscal sponsor and serves on the Core Team.
Thank You to Our Partners!
One of our “guiding principles” is to COLLABORATE. As a volunteer-led initiative, our efforts would not be possible without the dedication and collaboration from hundreds of individual volunteers and dozens of generous partners each year.
